Reward outstanding academic performance with a scholarship
The ACER Scholarship Tests are used by approximately 250 independent schools across Australia.
The tests require students to demonstrate a range of skills such as the ability to interpret, infer, deduce and think critically. They are not curriculum based and do not test the ability to retrieve learned knowledge.
The ACER Scholarships program offers schools:
- an online registration portal for schools and parents
- reliable trialled tests
- paper booklets dispatched directly to schools
- Support with invigilation, including organising supervisors on the day of the test
- marking of the applicants’ papers
- reporting of applicants’ results back to the school

Cooperative program or alternative date?
The first decision that a new school needs to make is whether to participate in one of ACER’s cooperative programs or to select their own alternative test date. The cooperative programs involve a large number of schools testing on the same test date. Applicants may register for several schools (up to six), sit the test once and have their results reported to all schools within the cooperative program to which they have applied.
Where applicants register for more than one school they are required to allocate a preference number to all schools to which they have applied and will sit the test at their first preference school. Schools may make offers to any student regardless of the preference order specified by the applicant.
Benefits of using the cooperative programs:
- a large pool of applicants that may consider registering for your school
- a schools’ applicants’ results are compared to a large cohort of students
- access to ACER-managed test centres in some regional and overseas locations for applicants who are more than 200kms from a participating cooperative school
- the opportunity for schools to participate in joint advertising to share costs
- applicants sit only one test for one or several school applications.
Schools that do not elect to be part of a cooperative program may wish to select an alternative test date. Applicants will come to your school and sit the test on your nominated date and results will be reported to your school only.
Schools will receive results in an Excel file that can be sorted and imported into school systems, and as alpha and merit PDF reports.
For cooperative schools, results release dates can be found in the Schedule of Dates emailed to schools in August. Please contact ACER for the Schedule.
For alternative date schools, results will be available within 10 business days of your test date.
