National Australian teacher survey opens

Organised by the Australian College of Educators (ACE) in partnership with The NEiTA Foundation, the survey asks teachers about the challenges they face in their day-to-day work and to share their ideas on how to improve Australian education.

The last report conducted in 2017 found that significant numbers of teachers lacked support, felt disregarded by parents and had recently considered quitting the profession. This year, the survey will also include questions about teachers’ experiences of remote teaching and ACE Managing Director Helen Jentz said she expects educators to report increased stress levels caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Hundreds of educators voiced concerns about Australia’s education system in 2017 and, after a hugely challenging year in 2020, I think teachers are feeling more overworked and underrepresented than ever,” Ms Jentz said. “The Teachers Report Card is a significant opportunity for educators to tell their community about the daily challenges they are facing, and to share their insights into how to our education system can be improved for all.”

The Teachers Report Card asks Australian educators about a range of issues that affect their work, including funding, workload, national assessments, curriculum requirements, support and mentoring, the impact of the pandemic, education policy, and more. The online survey takes around 30 minutes to complete and is open now.

The Teachers Report Card survey closes at 4pm AEST on 19 July 2021.
