ACER news 29 Jun 2023 3 minute readMedallions for exceptional achievement have been awarded to 17 students from schools across NSW, Vic, WA and Qld in the Global Academic Challenge held this autumn.
More than 2,800 challenges were completed by students from 73 schools around Australia in May 2023.
The Global Academic Challenge is available for students in years 4, 6 and 8 in mathematics, reading and science. The competition gives them an opportunity to stretch themselves beyond the curriculum and to answer questions of an international standard.
ACER’s Manager of School and Early Childhood Education Services, Dr Jarrod Hingston, was pleased by students’ performance in the competition.
‘Congratulations to every student who took part in the Global Academic Challenge in May,’ Dr Hingston said. ‘Students achieved excellent results and answered tough questions impressively.’
‘The competition was very close for each of the award levels and the top performer medallions.’
Results from the Global Academic Challenge include valuable international benchmarks, as well as comparisons to the high-achieving Australian cohort.
If your school would like to take part, registrations are now open for the Spring Challenge, held from Monday 28 August – Friday 8 September.
