Australian teenagers with higher levels of curiosity than others performed better in mathematics in the world’s largest assessment of 15-year-old students, a new report has shown.

Two Australian school teams will represent Australia in this year’s International Mathematical Modeling Challenge (IM2C), thanks to their approach to finding a solution for the post-pandemic trend of abandoning pets. 

International studies show that girls are more politically informed and active at school than boys, and more concerned about issues like the environment and equal rights.  Despite this, girls show a lack of political ambition. This should concern all of us.

Results from the latest international study of civic and citizenship education show students’ civic knowledge decreased significantly between 2016 and 2022.

The 2024 state winners of IM²C (Australia) will learn from university researchers how to use mathematical modelling for positive change.
